At Feed Our Vets, we’re grateful for a lot of things this Thanksgiving.
First, we’re grateful for the men and women who have served their country. We do what we do, feeding hungry Veterans and their families, because we honor their service.
Some people ask us, “Why do you just serve Vets?”
We don’t think anyone in America should go hungry, and there are food pantry programs in just about every community in the country.
We believe that veterans who have served deserve an extra layer of dignity, and that when they need help, they can come to a place where their service is recognized and respected.
For former service members who were trained to be self-reliant, and used to the structure of the military, admitting they need help and asking for it can be particularly difficult. Our experience is that some Veterans who wouldn’t go to a regular food pantry will get food assistance from a Feed Our Vets pantry.
We’re grateful for people like you.
Feed Our Vets wouldn’t be able to do the work we do without we do without financial support from people who care about Veterans. We receive no government grants and contributions from individuals make up most of our budget.
We’re grateful for our volunteers.
Feed Our Vets food pantries are run by almost exclusively by dedicated volunteers who donate their time, hard work and skills. They include pantry directors, inventory managers, and the friendly dedicated people who check veterans in, stock the shelves, distribute the food and help disabled veterans carry their groceries out to their cars.
So we give thanks today. Thank you to our Veterans, our supporters and our volunteers.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
