“Canstruction” had local organizations turning canned goods into works of art, in order to aid Veterans who are in need.
The event collected more than three tons of food for local veterans, and approximately 8,500 cans were donated for the drive.
“The main thought process behind the Canstruction event is to have continued awareness in the fight against hunger,” said Canstruction chairman, Dan Berkhoudt. “We offer things about food pantries and homeless and hungry around Thanksgiving and Christmas, and this we do in April to continue the effort and keep that spotlight for the hungry.”
Awards were handed out at the event and are listed below:
Canstruction® is a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the creations go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to local hunger relief organizations.
